The Daily Neopets Item Database is a complete items database with information about Neopets colors, emotions, weapons icons, and more. 8-bit Draik Neopets Colors - Neopets. I love your redraws because they have so much personality in them! That's the biggest appeal of uc's to me, so i'd definitely have all my pets 8-bit if they looked like how you re-drew them. The pteri's upgrade is sooo good, you shaved like 30 years off their life and made them young again. The jubjub is also perfect, i love the roundness in the toes (not a sentence i thought i'd be writing).
All the magic has been used up...wait, maybe not. ;)
The Rainbow Fountain is used to paint a pet a colour of your choice. Because this is an extremely popular service, only those who complete a quest for Naia the Fountain Faerie may use it. (And as of February 2015, Baelia's quests may also award a dip in the Fountain.)
Have you ever wondered what it looks like to get a Fountain quest? Want to know what happens when you do get one? Hopefully, this walkthrough can answer your questions.
Getting the Quest
Getting a Fountain Faerie quest (commonly abbreviated to FFQ) is a very rare event that happens while browsing the Neopets site. It comes in the form of a regular faerie quest, so if you didn't complete your last quest, or if you canceled/abandoned one recently, you need to visit the Faerie Quests page to make sure you're eligible to receive a new quest.
There is also the chance that you may be awarded a trip to the Rainbow Fountain after completing a Grey Faerie quest. Since Baelia has no rewards of her own, she will ask another faerie at random to award you their normal prize—which can include a dip from the Fountain Faerie.
When you receive a quest, here's what it looks like:
Faerie Quest Events
Starting in 2011, and each year since, Fyora gathers all of the faeries for a week and offers daily faerie quests to all Neopians. Instead of randomly stumbling upon a faerie, you are able to go the Faerie Quests page once per day during the event to receive a quest.
Neopets Flash Not Working
The faerie that grants you a quest is still random, but it's possible for Naia to pop up and offer you a quest during this event. Baelia, as well, offers quests during this event.
Completing the Quest
Now, in order to receive entry to the Rainbow Fountain, you have to obtain the item the faerie wants. The item can be any r94-96 item, which will vary greatly in price.
If you're having second thoughts about going to buy an unbuyable item, consider what you wish to paint your Neopet. If you were to paint your Neopet using a regular paint brush (or morphing potion), would you be spending less Neopoints than the cost of the item Naia is asking for? If so, then the quest is worth the expense! Prices fluctuate all the time, though, so make sure to do your research using Jellyneo's Item Database.
If you decide to go through with the quest and are unable to use the Shop Wizard, check the Trading Post, Auction House, or ask for help on the Quests Neoboard. There are always people there who are willing to search user shops on your behalf.
There is no time limit on the Fountain Faerie's quests, which is just as well since it might take you a while to get together the Neopoints necessary to buy the item she has requested. She will sit quietly and wait for you to return, although you won't be able to use the Shop Wizard while you have a quest outstanding.
Purchase the item, then go to the Faerie Quests page to hand it in.
It is also worth mentioning that you have to have at least one Neopet on your account before you turn in the item. This probably won't be an issue for most of you, but you should bear this in mind if you receive a quest on a side account where you don't hold any Neopets. If you don't have any Neopets and you complete a quest, you will not be given the opportunity to create a pet to paint. Naia will simply thank you for the item and then leave without granting you access to the Fountain.
Claiming Your Reward
Once you have Fountain access, you can take your time—& you won't get kicked out for being indecisive. You can go about your business in Neopia, safe in the knowledge that you can return to the Fountain whenever you choose.
List Of Neopets
When you would like to paint your Neopet, set it as your active pet in Quick Ref, and visit the Rainbow Fountain to choose the colour.
Not sure which colour/species combination to choose? Check out our Rainbow Pool to view all the possible combinations. However, not all colours will show up at the Rainbow Fountain as options.
Colours that you cannot paint there include:
- 8-Bit
- Burlap
- Ice
- Magma
- Mosaic
- MSP

Your New Paint Job!
Congratulations! By now your pet should have obtained a spiffy new paint job!
As a note, your pet's clothing will be removed upon a successful dip. You may also not see the new version of your Neopet if the old image is being cached by your computer, but in most cases you'll see the results on the success page above.
Once you successfully finish the painting process, your access ends, and you'll have to wait for another invitation from Naia in order to paint another Neopet.
You may have only one Fountain access pass at a time! If you have completed a Fountain quest and don't use it right away, you will want to use it before turning in another Fountain quest item (should you be lucky enough to receive another one). You cannot 'stack' dips in the Fountain by completing multiple Fountain quests. You can, however keep your second quest incomplete for as long as you like, so long as you don't mind forfeiting the use of the Shop Wizard.
Avatar
As is often the case around Neopia, there's a Neoboard avatar to unlock at the Rainbow Fountain:

Rainbow Fountain Do's and Don'ts
There are a number of rules surrounding what you can and cannot do with your Rainbow Fountain dips, both in regards to side accounts and how you can share them with other Neopians. If you're thinking of using the Rainbow Fountain on a side account or sharing a dip with a Neofriend, here's what you should keep in mind:
You may...
- Paint any Neopet that you already own, any Neopet in the pound, and newly created Neopets (when you're intending to keep owning any of these types of Neopets).
- Advertise your offer to use a Rainbow Fountain dip for another Neopian to paint a Neopet that you already own that is up for adoption or trade. (As per Editorial, Issue 334.)
- Complete a Fountain Faerie Quest on your side account, as long as it was obtained randomly by browsing Neopia (you cannot participate in the yearly Faerie Quest Events or open Faerie Quest Fortune Cookies on side accounts). (As per Editorial, Issue 532.)
- Transfer a Neopet that you own from either a main or side account to whatever account belonging to you that has a Rainbow Fountain dip available. (As per Editorial, Issue 572.)
You may not...
- Obtain a Neopet owned by someone else, paint that Neopet at the Rainbow Fountain, and then send that Neopet back to the previous owner. (As per Editorial, Issue 703 and Editorial, Issue 483.)
- You cannot participate in the yearly Faerie Quest Events or open Faerie Quest Fortune Cookies on your side accounts. (As per editorial Editorial, Issue 716.)
- You cannot offer to use a Rainbow Fountain dip in exchange for any Neopoints, Neocash, or items. (As per Editorial, Issue 389.)
Thanks goes to Chips for helping to compile this list of do's and don'ts!

8-Bit is one of the many colours available to Neopets and Petpets. In general, 8-Bit pets resemble game sprites from the 8-bit era of video games.
The 8-Bit colour for Neopets was released on March 22, 2011. Before Altador Cup VII, in which a Power-Up Potion was the top prize, the only way that users could change the colour of their Neopet to 8-Bit is by receiving a lucky zap from the Lab Ray.
The 8-Bit colour for Petpets was released on November 3, 2011. The only way that users can change the colour of their Petpet to 8-Bit is by receiving a lucky zap from the Petpet Lab Ray.
