Grams were introduced in 2010. These pretty scroll like Neocash items allow you to gift an exclusive NC item to a friend (or yourself). Grams are designed with various different themes to celebrate special holidays and occasions! The Sweetheart gram is the most popular version and released yearly to celebrate Valentine's Day! Grams are only available for a limited time each year, so spread the love while you can!

How They Work

Once you've purchased your gram from the NC Mall, it will go straight into your inventory. There is no activation needed. Select an NC item from the drop down menu, then enter or select the username you wish to send the item to. You also have the option to select one of the personalized messages provided in the drop down. For security purposes, you will need to enter your password and PIN (if one is setup) before you can send the item.

Grams are known to have between 4-6 regular exclusive items to choose from. The amount will vary with the type of gram. Be sure to read the FAQ before you purchase. Here's some additional information regarding grams:

• You can only select one item from a gram to send to a user (or yourself). You can also purchase and send grams to your side accounts.
• You will not receive a duplicate of the item for yourself when an item is sent. Once an item is sent, the gram will no longer be in your inventory.
• The exclusive NC items in grams cannot be bought separately in the NC Mall.
• Once you've purchased a gram, it will not expire.
• An NC Gift Box is not required or needed to send an item from a gram.
• The gram itself cannot be gifted using a NC Gift Box, as it doesn't give the option.
• The gram can only be put into your Safety Deposit Box or Gallery through Quickstock. These options are not displayed in the drop down when you open the gram.
• When a gram is gifted, you and the recipient will receive an event notification along with a Neomail stating the item is sent and received. You will have within 48 hours of receiving the gram to accept or deny. If you deny a gram, the item and gram will return back to the sender without any loss.

Limited Edition Items

All grams have the chance of receiving a themed Limited Edition bonus item. If you are lucky, the Limited Edition item will be an option in the drop down menu along with the regular exclusive items. There is only one themed Limited Edition item for each type of gram. Since grams only allow you to send one item, you can either send the Limited Edition item or one of the regular exclusive items to a user (or yourself). Additional bonus item(s) are given out based on the outcome of the Community Challenge at the end of the event.

Community Challenge

Starting in 2011, the Share the Love Community Challenge is hosted yearly with the Sweetheart Gram event. The meter represents the amount of Sweetheart Grams sent. The tick will gradually increase to the right as more users send grams. The amount of grams needed to reach the 'Lots of Love' goal is unknown. When the tick is on the last notch to the right, the goal is met! Everyone who sends at least one gram by the end of the event will receive the bonus item(s) for participating. If the goal is met early, you can still participate in the challenge if you purchase and send a gram before the challenge end date.

What are they?
Sidebars are what neo used to use as the navigation for the site. They had a layout change though and switched to a different way, and now have site themes rather than sidebar themes. To see the current site themes and how to get them, then head over to the Site Themes Page.
After years of the default yellow sidebar for everyone, Neopets decided to release other sidebar themes that players can unlock. This way you can customise the way you look at all the neopets pages, if yellow isn't your favourite color, you could easily switch to another sidebar, that is once you have unlocked other sidebars. This page will show you what themes there are, what they look like and how you are able to unlock them.
Neopets also shows the amount of sidebars you have unlocked on your userlookup, above your secret avatar count.
How can you change your sidebar?
All the sidebar themes you have unlocked are listed on the Site Preferences page. At this page you can switch your sidebar from one to another.

This is the yellow default sidebar that everyone automatically receives. This sidebar does not count towards your unlocked sidebar themes count.

Birthday Sidebar

You have this sidebar automatically every year on your birthday and on the birthday of Neopets (November 15th). You cannot unlock this sidebar theme to use it on other days of the year however. This sidebar is said to increase the number of random events you get, and it also removes all ads that appear on Neopets.

Halloween Sidebar

You can unlock this sidebar theme by being online at between 11:59:00pm - 11:59:59pm NST on Halloween (October 31st). It was also given out to the winners of the first Random Contest in October 2004.

Valentines Sidebar

You can unlock this sidebar theme by sending or receiving 'A Mysterious Valentines Card' on valentines day (February 14th). This means that if you send one to someone, you will both receive the sidebar theme.

Winter Sidebar

You can unlock this sidebar theme in a random event on Terror Mountain. On December 31st of 2005 people 'not-so-randomly' got the sidebar from the Advent Calendar.

I know December is long gone but, how come on Decemember 31, 2005 only some people got the winter sidebar from the Advent Calendar? I thought everyone was supposed to get the same prizes from the Advent Calendar. :

Actually, random prizes are ocassionally given out via the Advent Calendar. This is done just to spice things up a bit and give a few lucky people an extra prize we wouldn't be able to give out otherwise.That being said, this was not the case here. :) Just like most of the other sidebars, there were certain requirements that had to be met in order to obtain the Winter Sidebar. If you met these requirements, you got it on the final day of the Advent Calendar. We can't tell you what those requirements were, of course, but it was certainly not a random giveaway. We'll give you a little hint however... the same requirements will need to be met next year, and the sidebar will again be given out on the final day of the Advent Calendar. You've got 10 months to figure it out! :)

I was thinking -- the way to unlock the winter sidebar ISN'T by staying up on Christmas Eve or Christmas night until midnight and refreshing at Terror Mountain... right? ~narelliagiven
